Eurogamer.net steams past 1.2 million users in new audit

GamesIndustry.biz' sister site Eurogamer.net has announced the results of its second independent traffic audit - revealing that the UK's leading consumer videogames publication is continuing to grow traffic and readership at a rapid pace.

The latest figures for the site, which were audited by independent body ABC ELECTRONIC, show that it had 1.24 million unique users during the month of May - racking up a massive 9.9 million page impressions.

That represents readership growth of 27 per cent in the half year since the site's previous audit in October 2005 - and each reader is also clearly spending more time on the site, with traffic growth outstripping readership growth with a 46 per cent climb in the same period.

"It is incredibly important that online media publishers are honest about traffic figures," commented Eurogamer Network's business development manager, Patrick Garratt. "This independent audit gives media buyers the transparency of information that is impossible by using internal or sample-based traffic measurements."

During the period between the two audits, Eurogamer.net launched a number of key new features for its readers - including the incredibly well-received Eurogamer TV streaming video service, and a Live Text system which proved extremely popular for real-time reporting from keynote sessions at the Game Developers Conference and E3.

Significant further expansion is planned for the site in the coming months - with details of the company's plans set to be announced in the next few weeks.

Eurogamer Network Ltd is the publisher of both GamesIndustry.biz and Eurogamer.net.
