Eurogamer.net approaches a million visitors in new audit

UK consumer videogames website Eurogamer.net has published the results of its recent ABC ELECTRONIC audit - the first ever to be undertaken by a UK games site - revealing that the site had almost a million unique users in October.

UK consumer videogames website Eurogamer.net has published the results of its recent ABC ELECTRONIC audit - the first ever to be undertaken by a UK games site - revealing that the site had almost a million unique users in October.

The site, which is published by the same company as GamesIndustry.biz, Eurogamer Network Ltd, recorded 977,349 unique users during the month, and a total of almost 6.8 million page impressions, according to independent media auditor ABCE.

While no other UK videogames website has yet agreed to have its traffic figures verified by ABCE, Eurogamer believes that this makes it into the UK's most popular videogames website by a significant margin - and also eclipses the circulation of even the most popular print publications in the country.

"These figures finally prove beyond doubt what we've known for some time," according to Eurogamer Network business development manager Patrick Garratt.

"Eurogamer.net is not only the UK's busiest, most popular and most respected consumer games website, but is now by far the most read video games publication in Britain, print or online."

Garratt threw down the gauntlet to Eurogamer.net's rivals in the online space, saying that the audit gave "complete transparency" to advertisers on the site, and expressing his hope that it will "encourage our competitors to follow our lead."

Fully audited sites with published traffic figures will make "the business of marketing games online in the UK legitimate, properly audited and completely trustworthy," he noted.

Eurogamer.net expects its traffic to continue to grow in November and beyond, and the site has a number of new channels and features in the pipeline which will continue to grow its reach in the consumer space both in the UK and beyond.

Eurogamer.net is published by Eurogamer Network Ltd, which is also the publisher of GamesIndustry.biz and MobileIndustry.biz. Contact Patrick Garratt (Patrick@eurogamer.net) to discuss marketing or sponsorship opportunities.
