ESWC 2008

Draw pools system unveiled.

Paris, August 15 2008 - The Organizing Committee of ESWC has established the draw pools for the tournaments that will be used to seed the top players and team in the groups of the first group stage.

Attendees are initially placed in the tournament through a random draw. Players and teams are placed in two to three different seed pools depending on the game (top, high and medium) while others are placed in a challenger’s pool. Each group is then randomly composed by one participant from each seed pool, and two to three from the challenger’s pool depending on the tournament. When a participant is drawn and his nationality is already represented in the group, the participant is put aside and another participant is drawn. For the last group, if participants with the same nationality are drawn, they are not put aside and remain in the same group.

Participants are seeded into the draw pools according to their results in previous editions of the Electronic Sports World Cup, ESWC Masters of Paris, National Final and other major competitions.
