Winners to be crowned at gamescom in Cologne.

Cologne, May 20th, 2010 – The eSports Award, most renowned award in the eSports scene, will be again celebrated at the leading gaming trade fair gamescom (August 18th-22th) in Cologne, Germany. Outstanding achievements in the field of eSports will be recognized by the fans and a jury consisting of eSports industry experts. The website www.eSports-Award.org will be the central contact point for nominations and votings concerning the eSports Award. The eSports Award will be issued in 16 categories. One of them is the Journalist Award recognizing constant in-depth media coverage in the field of electronic sports (eSports). As in 2009 the Journalist Award will be awarded to the best piece of classical journalism about eSports. Last year the jury assigned Jürgen Schmieder (Süddeutsche Zeitung) and Ingmar Höhmann (Handelsblatt) for their remarkable work.

Published TV/print/radio/online articles or features focussing on eSports in a sophisticated and creative way Publishing period: August 2009 – July 2010 Every fully trained journalist or editor as well as interns are eligible Applications and recommendations will be treated equally

About eSports Award

The eSports Award is the most prestigious award in electronic sports and has been issued by Turtle Entertainment GmbH at the Games Convention trade fair in Leipzig, Germany since 2004. With the new leading trade fair gamescom, the eSports Award moved to Cologne in 2009.

The eSports Award will be issued in the following categories:

eSports Player of the Year: Last year's best eSportsman Newcomer / Breakthrough of the Year: Best Breakthrough eSportsman of the year, whether as total newcomer, comeback or entrance to a new discipline Best Counter-Strike Player: Best Counter-Strike player of the past year Best Warcraft 3 Player: Best Warcraft 3 player of the past year eSports-Team of the Year: Award for the best eSports team of the year with outstanding organisation, constancy and professionalism Journalist Award: Award for the most sophisticated and thorough article or feature about eSports Scene Journalist Award: The award recognizes constant in-depth coverage in the field of eSports
