One thing is clear, if somewhat unsurprising - it looks like being an EA Christmas all round, with the three titles which took the lion's share of the voting all being Electronic Arts games.

They were Medal of Honor: Rising Sun, FIFA Football 2004 and The Sims: Bustin' Out, with the new Sims game edging marginally ahead with just over 26 per cent of the vote, while the other two were neck and neck with around 24 per cent each.

The only other game which is even in the running for the top spot, according to our competition entries at least, is Lord of the Rings: Return of the King, which garnered some 15 per cent of the vote - with some readers no doubt noticing that the Return of the King movie comes out this week, and could, in theory, give the game a boost up to the number one spot in time for Christmas.

Our tip for the Christmas number one remains The Sims: Bustin' Out, and it seems that a great many of you agree. We'll know the final results of both the charts and the competition on December 23rd, when Chart-Track announces the last set of UK software charts ahead of Christmas.
