Endemol boss first up for Festival of Games

Van der Meer to discuss Deal or No Deal firm's experience of the videogame business

Jurian van der Meer, the managing director of newly-created Endemol Games, is the first speaker confirmed for next year's Festival of Games event, taking place in Utrecht, April 28-29.

The TV firm responsible for European hits Deal or No Deal and Big Brother announced its entry into games in October, and has already inked deals with the likes of Electronic Arts, Virgin Games, William Hill, Betfair and the National Lottery.

Van der Meer will discuss partnerships made between TV and games companies, and alternative business models that suit online, broadcast and games collaborations.

"The team at Endemol has shown that they really understand the convergence of the industry - and know how to make good money out of it," said Festival of Games chairman Seth van der Meer.

"They have set an international standard for other media companies from around the world. Let's hope these companies will gather to see his session and move into the gaming space before it is too late."
