DICE and Kontagent to support Festival of Games

Dutch expo adds new sessions on Battlefield 3 and social metric benchmarks

Dutch games expo Festival of Games has added two prominent new speakers to its line-up, with Battlefield 3 developer Patrick Liu and Kontagent's Albert Lai both due to host their own sessions.

Liu will discuss DICE's work on the forthcoming Battlefield 3, as well as his previous work on DICE projects such as download Battlefield 1943 and the multiplayer component of Medal Of Honor. Liu is also a veteran of Starbreeze projects The Darkness and The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena.

Lai's session is entitled 'Top 7 Social Metrics for 2011' and will attempt to analyse current trends for social game developers using a three-step framework: user acquisition, retention and monetisation.

The session will attempt to outline social metric benchmark ranges and explain the reasons why they are so important to a social game's lifecycle development.

As announced earlier in the week the Festival of Games will also see contributions from Bigpoint CCO Nils-Holger Henning and InnoGames co-founder Michael Zillmer.

Other participating companies include Google, Nokia, Amazon, Frima Studio, RightScale, Bigpoint, Stardoll, PreviewLabs, Zong, Bigben Interactive, UnitedGames, Exit Games, Abstraction Games, TeliaSonera, Boostr, Experian, Spalsh Digital, Alawar, and Dial XS.

The Festival of Games is due to take place April 28 - 29 at the Jaarbeurs Utrecht in the Netherlands. The 2010 event attracted over 2000 visitors, with 180 companies from 25 countries.
