elkware to bring Miami Vice to mobile phones this Christmas

Hit 80's TV series to become mobile game

Wednesday 3 November 2004/... elkware, Europe's leading independent mobile phone game developer, has announced that it has secured a license from Universal Studios Consumer Products Group to create mobile games based on the television series that defined the 1980's, Miami Vice. All the exploits of Crockett and Tubbs in sun-drenched Miami will be available on selected handsets over the festive period.

Jan Andresen, managing director of elkware GmbH commented: "Miami Vice is one of the most influential and popular television shows of all time - our mobile game will incorporate the same high degree of style and action that made the show such a favourite".

"The licensing of Miami Vice for the mobile space is consistent with our strategy of bringing the depth of Universal's content portfolio to mobile users," said Jeremy Laws, vice president of media licensing and strategy for Universal's Consumer Products Group. "The property combines elements perfectly-suited to action gameplay and quintessential 80's style - delivering an engaging retro experience for consumers."

Miami Vice will be available on selected handsets shortly. Further details to be announced.
