ECD Systems has named the top 20 semi-finalists for its second-annual Independent Game Developers Showcase

ECD Systems has named the top 20 semi-finalists for its second-annual Independent Game Developers Showcase.

âThe Showcase semi-finalists truly demonstrate to the gaming community the value of what independent game developers can offer in terms of game variety and quality,â said Jack Hart, CEO of ECD Systems.

âWe are excited to be a valuable stepping stone for these developers and to help their great work gain recognition not only from the industry, but also from players,â he added.

In the "general category" are:

Sector 13 (Reactor Interactive, USA)
Soldat (Michal Marcinkowski, Poland)
Synaesthete (DigiPen Institute of Technology, USA)
Uberpong (Nibbo Studios, Mexico)

Semi-finalists in the "casual category" include:

Baseball Mogul 2008 (Sports Mogul Inc., USA)
Bubble Chamber (CerebraGames.com, USA)
Drops (debrill Multimedia, Germany)
Fizzball (Grubby Games, Canada)

Opera Slinger (Treblemakers, USA)
TubeTwist: Quantum Flux (21-6 Productions, USA)

Word Archery (Anino Games, Philippines)

A judging panel consisting of industry professionals from the game development community, college instructors, major publishers and leading gaming Web sites will determine the winner and three runners-up.

The results will be announced at the upcoming Austin GDC.
