EA launches new download service with Battlefield 2 add-on

Electronic Arts has announced that new expansion pack Battlefield 2: Special Forces is now available to buy and download via the EA website.

Electronic Arts has announced that new expansion pack Battlefield 2: Special Forces is now available to buy and download via the EA website.

The publisher has launched a new piece of software, EA Downloader, which enables gamers to download titles in much the same way as they would using Valve's highly successful Steam service.

Battlefield 2: Special Forces is priced at USD 29.99 and is already available for pre-download, although purchasers won't be able to play the expansion until 1pm EST on November 22.

Said to feature "the latest, most technologically advanced vehicles and weapons systems available to man," BF2: Special Forces lets players fight for any one of six Special Forces teams - Navy SEALs, Russian Spetznas, MEC Special Forces, rebel groups, insurgents or the SAS.

The expansion will also be available in shops later this month.
