E3: GTA on PSP named, confirmed for autumn release

Speaking at a pre-E3 event in Los Angeles, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe boss David Reeves has confirmed that Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto series is on its way to the PlayStation Portable this autumn.

The game, which is officially titled Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories, will arrive "soon after" the launch of the new handheld console in Europe on September 1st, Reeves promised.

This is the first official word on both the name and the planned launch window of the game, and the choice of "Liberty City Stories" as the subtitle is already fuelling much speculation about the content of the game - Liberty City being the metropolis in which the first PS2 GTA title was set.

It's expected that Rockstar will show off a version of the game behind closed doors at the E3 show, which kicks off in a matter of hours here in Los Angeles.
