Doom III lives Vicariously on Xbox

Vicarious Visions has been named as the developer for the Xbox version of id Software's forthcoming Doom III, which is set to be released on the PC in early 2004.

The New York based studio's previous record on the Xbox includes porting Star Wars: Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast, which was based on id Software's Quake III engine technology, to the console.

The company is currently working on three other Xbox projects - namely the Xbox version of Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy, racing title Crash Nitro Kart and first person shooter Trinity.

No release date or further information about the Xbox port of the game has as yet been revealed.
