Dogs of Rare charity calendar to raise money for SpecialEffect

Sea of Thieves developer branches out into non-interactive media

In a marked departure from its usual strategy of making games for Microsoft, Rare has turned to non-interactive media for its new release in an effort to raise money for charity.

The Dogs of Rare 2019 Charity Calendar is the latest project from the Sea of Thieves developer.

Currently available to pre-order, the calendar will release on December 3 and all proceeds will be donated to gaming accessibility charity SpecialEffect.

It's a bold move given the steady decline of print in the digital age, but tapping the angle of puppies in mind-aching cute outfits should appeal to the developer's core audience, along with people who just like dogs.

From the stoic determination of January through to the nautical whimsy of December, each of the calendar's 12 pages is adorably adorned with the dogs of Rare employees.
