Digital Voice and Media to acquire Stargate developer

Australian developer Perception, the studio behind the uncompleted Stargate SG-1 game that was due to be published by JoWooD, is to be acquired by Digital and Voice Media in a friendly takeover.

In a statement DVM, which has agreed to acquire 100 per cent of shares in Perception's capital, said that there are "strong synergies between the business of Perception and DVMâs media advertising and marketing activities."

"Further, the extensive experience of the directors and employees of Perception in media industry should assist with the development of DVMâs core business." The statement went on to confirm that Perception will retain intellectual property ownership within the Perception group.

Perception hit the headlines last August after JoWooD pulled the developer off Stargate SG-1: The Alliance, claiming that the game did not "satisfy satisfy neither our quality requirements nor the fans expectations."

In return, Perception accused the publisher of issuing "misleading and libellous" statements, and filed a petition to have the company declared bankrupt - but an Austrian court ruled in favour of JoWooD.
