Digital Catapult launches AR and VR accelerator programme for UK startups
Early-stage companies to receive mentorship and access to investors
Tech agency Digital Catapult has this week announced the relaunch of its augmented and virtual reality accelerator programme.
Augmentor offers early-stage immersive companies technical and business mentorship, along with access to Digital Catapult's Immersive Labs facility, and access to the company's network of supporters, researchers, and academic institutions.
Returning for its third year, the 12-week programme aims to foster the next generation of UK-based startups developing commercially viable apps for AR and VR.
Up to ten companies will be selected to participate, receiving extensive support for their project before pitching to investors in January.
"Immersive technologies increasingly display massive untapped potential for business applications from product design to hazardous conditions training, across many different industrial sectors," said Digital Catapult CEO Jeremy Silver.
"Unlocking this depends on early-stage companies innovating in this space, finessing their propositions and securing investment. We have established Augmentor to provide the skills companies need to approach investors with greater confidence and clearly establish their product market fit."
Since launching, Augmentor participants have secured over £3.1 million investment, with alumni including digital delivery platform Reality Zero One, and self-serve AR platform HoloMe.
The open call is now live and will run until September 6, 2019.
