Denki Blocks!

78 percent more puzzley goodness in Scottish studio's PSP port.

Block-shifting, shape-making, time-beating, award-winning puzzle game Denki Blocks! is coming to the PSP Minis store in Europe, thanks to the team at Tiger Games in Scotland.

Originally conceived and created by Denki, Denki Blocks! is a unique, simple and fun puzzle game, which combines really, really simple controls and concept with the most fiendish puzzles, traps and pitfalls since mankind stopped building huge, sinister temples.

The goal of Denki Blocks! is really easy.  Join together all of the same coloured blocks.  However, all of the coloured blocks slide – all at once.  So getting the same colours together – and in the right shape – can be more challenging than climbing Everest in a canoe.  The new PSP version of Denki Blocks! features over 100 hand-crafted, luxurious puzzles, especially designed for your puzzling pleasure and delight, master challenges such as making specific shapes, a maximum number of moves, or a time limit and many carefully hidden secret levels for the Puzzle Masters and Mistresses out there to find.

Since its original release in 2001, Denki Blocks! has appeared on many of the world's most exciting gaming platforms.  Starting with the Nintendo Game Boy Advance - where it won multiple awards for originality, fun and general awesomeness – the Denki Blocks! world tour took in Sky digital interactive television (racking up over 1,000,000 paid downloads in its first six months on the platform), iPhone, iPod, iPad and most recently, Facebook, where Denki Blocks! Daily Workout now keeps the socially connected in tip-top condition, with a brand new set of challenges every day.  Interestingly, Denki Blocks! counts confirmed fans in countries such as Venezuela, Saudi Arabia and Vietnam, confirming that block-based puzzling is an activity which unites the world.

Now, Denki Blocks! has made the leap onto Sony's insanely popular handheld (over 50,000,000 sold to date) bringing over 78% MORE puzzley goodness to the shiny handheld fun gadget than ever before.

Jamie Bryan, the founder and managing director of Tiger Games, says, "I fell in love with Denki Blocks! when I first played it back in 2002.  It's the perfect puzzle game for handheld gaming, so the chance to bring it to the PSP was far too tempting to pass up.  Everyone deserves a chance to play this game. We worked closely with Denki to make sure everything about the game was translated and recreated to make full use of the PSP's high resolution screen and sophisticated controls.  We think the result speaks for itself and we're looking forward to players across Europe discovering the delights of slidey, sticky blocks for themselves."

Colin Anderson, managing director of Denki, agrees, "Ever since setting up Denki over ten years ago we’ve been looking for partners we can trust to bring our games to more players on other platforms.  Tiger Games impressed us right from the moment they first approached us.  They were clearly fans of Denki Blocks! already, and that gave us a lot of confidence they would deliver a great version of the game – and they didn’t disappoint.  Tiger Games has done an impressive job of translating all the key parts of Denki Blocks! and recreating them for the PSP.  It's fun, slick and works really well on the PSP's larger screen and analogue controls.  It feels like a version Denki would have made itself – and as a game creator that’s as good as it gets when someone works with one of your creations.  As a result, we’re proud to welcome this newest member of the much respected and venerable Denki Blocks! family and await another wave of desperate, solution-seeking emails from new players with the keenest anticipation!"

Denki Blocks! is release on the PSP Mini's Store in Europe on 26 th Jan and will cost £3.49.
