Dublin, Ireland Oct 7th 2004:

The DemonWare engineering team today proudly unveil BitDemon Netcode 1.5 with extensive peer-to-peer support for console and PC multiplayer games. With increasing numbers of multiplayer games being planned, the need for reliable, efficient network components has never been greater. BitDemon 1.5 solves all the state synchronization woes for games of any genre on every mainstream platform.

Leading US studio, 5000FT (Reno, NV), is the latest studio to licence BitDemon for an upcoming AAA multi-platform title. "BitDemon was the ideal solution to allow us focus on getting the gameplay in our title right. DemonWare's netcode products are able to provide us with the multiplayer technology and expertise which let us focus on our primary goal with this game, bringing a great online experience to consoles." said Tim Page, CEO of 5000FT.

"I'm very happy with this iteration of BitDemon", said Sean Blanchfield, DemonWare CTO, "I think developers will find it straight-forward to use and well thought out. Now that we support peer-to-peer networking, as well as client-server, we have the most relevant solution no matter what kind of game you are developing."

BitDemon 1.5 ships with both client/server and peer-to-peer support. It is available for Xbox, PS2, PC and Linux with impending support for PSP. It provides a developer-friendly C++ API and ships with full source. Among its features are efficient encryption, packet amalgamation, delta compression, client-side prediction and host migration. BitDemon is widely regarded as the most developer-friendly state engine available and is being used in a number of AAA titles that are being released on console platforms in 2005.

Multiplayer games require a variety of network techniques to enable people across the world to play against each other over the Internet. BitDemon provides studios with all the technology required to develop these games, and also to quickly port between supported platforms: PS2, Xbox, PC and PSP.
