SAN DIEGO, Calif. – March 22, 2011 – Following on the heels of its successful launch in January, Sony Online Entertainment LLC (SOE) today announced that DC Universe Online (DCUO) is now available to North American customers as a digital download through the PlayStation ®Network. DCUO quickly became the fastest selling game in SOE’s history since its launch in January 2011 and has already added a wealth of new missions, items and content as part of both its Catwoman themed update in February and upcoming Two-Face themed update.
“DC Universe Online is our fastest-selling game of all time and we’re thrilled to offer the game digitally to an even larger audience of console gamers through the PlayStation Network,” said Chris Cao, Game Director of DCUO. “Gamers can now step into the DC Universe from the comfort of their own homes to fully enjoy the potential of their PlayStation 3.”
DCUO is the first online game based on the DC universe to offer physics-based action combat in a massively multiplayer world on the PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system. Players can create their own hero or villain and join forces with other players online, as well as DC icons like Batman , Superman, Wonder Woman, The Joker and Lex Luthor in an epic battle to save, or conquer the universe.
Rated T for Teen with Mild Blood, Mild Language, Mild Suggestive Themes and Violence, DC Universe Online is available for download at the PlayStation Store for $59.99 USD (plus applicable taxes). Purchase of the game includes 30-days of gameplay for new subscribers, with a monthly subscription fee of $14.99 thereafter. A six-month subscription is available for $77.99 USD and a 12-month subscription for $134.99 USD.
