Customers Face Pink PlayStation 2 Shortage This Christmas

15th December 2006 - With less than two weeks until Christmas, hundreds of parents are struggling to get hold of one of the must-have gadgets this year - no, it's not the Nintendo Wiiit's the Pink PlayStation 2!

Customers have not been able to get enough of the girl friendly console since it launched in early November; and with one in every two PlayStation 2 purchases being pink during launch week it's easy to see why.

"The popularity of the Pink PlayStation 2 has been overwhelming," said Anna Macario, Marketing Director for GAME. "In the autumn, a range of pink consoles were released however we're seeing a real demand for the Pink PlayStation 2. We're now back in stock of the pink console in stores, so we're hoping to fully satisfy the demand in time for Christmas."

Pink consoles have been appearing on eBay for well over the retail price in a bid to cash in on the £118 million market in PlayStation 2 consoles. The rising demands of gadget conscious children have been blamed for the surge in technology sales this festive season.

The Pink PS2 is available at GAME for £129.99, which includes a pink PS2 console, 2 pink controllers, a pink memory card and Singstar Popworld game with microphones.
