Tokyo Games Show 2004 - TOKYO - September 24, 2004 - Developers can now create game titles for the innovative Sony Computer Entertainment "PSPTM" platform with a development solution from Metrowerks designed to speed game creation and fully leverage the platform's hardware.

Metrowerks, a subsidiary of Freescale Semiconductor, Inc., will demonstrate the features and capabilities of CodeWarrior Development Studio for PSPTM, Version 1.0 at the Tokyo Games Show 2004 on Saturday, September 25, 2004.

Available immediately, the studio simplifies game title creation by offering:

  • a stable, market-proven compiler that enables the creation of compact, high-quality object code;
  • support for Sony Computer Entertainment's communication protocol;
  • the ability to work within either the native CodeWarrior development environment or the Visual Studio.NET environment, and

"The extension of CodeWarrior Development Studio to include "PSPTM" will be invaluable to game developers and middleware technology providers," said Karthik Bala, chief executive officer of Vicarious Visions. "Metrowerks has been extremely supportive in our efforts to get our games and technology up and running on "PSPTM" as quickly as possible."

"Metrowerks has released many products for a variety of platforms, and we are glad to now hear that Metrowerks has added "PSPTM" support to its product line," said Tohru Ogawa, group leader of the Technical Group, Contents & Technology Company at NAMCO LTD.
