Friday 19th January/...The Danish Trade body Multi Medie Foreningen has commissioned the highly regarded Chart-Track to monitor retail sales of computer and video game software and console hardware in Denmark. This comes with the full support of key retail chains B.O. Bøger, Blockbuster, Coop, Dansk Supermarked, EB Games, F Group, Game and Merlin.
On January 9th, after a six-month trial, the first official weekly charts were produced and showed EA's 'Need For Speed: Carbon' as Denmark's top-selling full price game and THQ's 'Biler' (Cars) as the budget top-seller.
John Pinder, Managing Director of Chart-Track, said "We're delighted to launch our new service in Denmark and we should like to thank the publishers and retailers for their enthusiastic support in getting the project off the ground. We aim to develop a top quality service for the whole games industry in Denmark, built on our experience in the UK and Ireland."
Peter Weile, Chairman of Multi Medie Foreningen and the managing director of Ubisoft Nordic said, "We are fully aware of Chart-Track's excellent reputation in the UK and look forward to working with them in Denmark. For the first time we now have access to independent market retail data and we see this as a major step forward for the Danish games industry."
