CGS: Chicago powers into first place

Chicago Chimera powered into first place of the CGS last night after drubbing 3D.NY 31-15. Chicago's dynamic PGR duo set the pace for the evening and the Counter-Strike and DOA squads followed suit. NY took points back in the FIFA competition, as Matt "Wizakor" Wood blanked Andrew "Anomaly" Brock, 3-0.

"Last night's game versus 3D.NY was a statement for the Chicago Chimera," offered Chicago GM Brian Flander. "We displayed confidence and heart, which is going to separate the Chimera from every other franchise for the entire season. This team has the understanding of what it takes to win not only individually, but as a franchise as well."

Carolina Core added to LA compLexity's woes, defeating the favored franchise with an overall team score of 24-17. While Counter-Strike and FIFA were bright spots for LA, the Core dominated all other categories.

Completing last night's action, the San Francisco OptiX knocked off the Dallas VenoM 31-22. Scores were close in all events except Counter-Strike, where the OptiX shut down the VenoM 14-4. In the Female DOA event, Vanessa Arteaga met a strong challenge from Cynthia "Rasberry Tea" Escamilla, but retained her un-beaten record. The OptiX' Allesandro "Stermy" Avallone also silenced a number of critics with a 5-4 defeat of notable FIFA stalwart Isidro "Novusnaim" Sifuentes.
