The 2008 International CES is hoping to increase its profile in the videogame calendar by making over 65 per cent more floorspace available to dedicated gaming companies.

But despite featuring a Gaming Showcase, the event only currently lists companies such as Commodore Gaming, Entropia Universe, LumiSource and Red Beard as its "major gaming exhibitors".

Bill Gates will be giving the keynote in January, and Sony and Microsoft are expected to have some gaming elements at their respective booths.

"Attendees at the 2008 International CES will be among the first to experience the latest products and trends changing the shape of the gaming market," commented Karen Chupka, senior vice president of events and conferences for CEA.

"With the CES Gaming Showcase, featuring top gaming companies from around the world in a central, easy to visit location, conference sessions and other special gaming events, the 2008 International CES is the global hub for the latest trends emerging on the gaming market".

The 2008 International CES takes place in Las Vegas, January 7 - 10.
