BT sells Games Domain to Yahoo

British Telecommunications has sold specialist gaming website Games Domain to Yahoo for an undisclosed sum, the two companies announced today.

Yahoo Europe has bought specialist gaming and music websites Games Domain and dotmusic from BT for an undisclosed sum, the two companies announced today. Both websites will be integrated into the BT Yahoo! Broadband portal, and music and gaming activities on its UK and Ireland site.

BT and Yahoo recently entered into an agreement to help each other deliver Internet services to consumers in the UK, with the launch of BT Yahoo! Broadband at the beginning of September backed by a significant advertising campaign.

Yahoo! Europe managing director and regional vice president Mark Opzoomer said the deal "makes strong commercial sense for both Yahoo! and British Telecommunications and will enhance the customer experience on the BT Yahoo! Broadband portal."

Speaking to its readers in a news post, Games Domain promised to keep providing the same levels of gaming content as before, and said it plans to extend its services as part of the Yahoo! Network.

BT originally bought Games Domain after previous owners theglobe.com went under in August 2001.
