brODDcast

Become a puppet master with this gesture-controlled title.

BRUSSELS - March 1, 2011

SoftKinetic Studios, the games & application division of SoftKinetic, in partnership with Fuel Entertainment , today announced brODDcast, a puppeteering title for natural gesture recognition-based platforms. brODDcast lets anyone control on-screen puppets using their own body movements to create unique theatrical performances that can be shared online.

The first in a new series of “imagination play” titles from SoftKinetic Studios and Fuel Entertainment , brODDcast enables anyone to create HD-quality puppet performances and share them with the world, without content restrictions or technical knowhow. The game includes a plethora of customization options to make every puppet and every setting unique; users can quickly add and mix audio, change set pieces, add visual FX, and even layer in new performances. In addition, players will be able to collaborate with others to create a performance and upload their final masterpieces to the sharing site of their choice.

“To make brODDcast accessible and enjoyable for all ages, we’re leveraging SoftKinetic Studios’ expertise in building immersive gesture-based entertainment,” said Mike Burns, chief creative officer at Fuel Entertainment . “We feel we’ve made new form of interactive entertainment that’s as much fun to play as it is to watch. It draws people in, getting the whole room laughing and participating.”

brODDcast features:

1:1 full body avatar control; puppets mimic players’ motions in real time Design your own puppets, customizing included characters or starting from scratch Simultaneous puppeteering with two or more people Everything is sharable online, from funny greetings and silly skits, to drama or current events; let your imagination run wild Audio options include players’ voice (with lip sync), vocal modifications, sound effects or downloaded sound clips Sets and props are fully interactive, with animated object interaction Photo booth tool allows users to pose and snap pictures of their puppets Performances can be edited, augmented and exported as movies Weekly and monthly expansion packs will offer fresh content “ brODDcast is the first interactive title of its kind to explore imagination play. Using natural gesture recognition allows people to easily create any performance they can dream up,” said Mike Nichols, general manager at SoftKinetic Studios. “The ability to share HD quality movies online opens up a whole new way to share and play creatively.”

SoftKinetic Studios will be demonstrating brODDcast at this year’s Game Developer’s Conference (GDC) in San Francisco from March 2-4 in a private meeting room on the show floor.
