Boomtown at gamescom

Danish outfit showing off redesigned website and revamped gaming cafés.

10 August 2009

Boomtown is revealing its new face at Gamescom this year, in more ways than one. With their new online site set to launch this fall, Boomtown will offer business attendees a sneak peak of their new design and improved functionality. The new site will not only bring its visual content up to a level that is sure to impress, but it will also take on a new personality with more emphasis on the social aspects of the site. The new community section will go beyond the basic forums and give the members a chance to have profiles, upload large amounts of user-generated content like videos and photos, join other members in ladders, and more. And as far as carrying on its image of “serious gaming,” Boomtown now has a new editorial staff in place, which focuses on providing serious coverage of gaming, and will host only serious discussions on gaming on their new website. Additionally, they will also have a special VIP section, but are not yet revealing all that it will contain.

More than just online

Boomtown is updating more than its website. Its three cafes in Denmark are upgrading all of their PC hardware to bring gamers the best and most cutting edge hardware on which to play the latest games, many of which are set to be launching in the next three to six months. The largest café of the three, located in Copenhagen, is already offering gamers the opportunity to try out the new high-speed Lenovo’s, while the rest of the cafes are set to boast the new PC’s in the upcoming months. The new PC model will be on display in the Boomtown booth, located in the Nordic Game show booth.

Boomtown is also offering unique packages for self-tailored events, hosting a variety of events from game releases to product promotions throughout the year. Moreover, the online site is selling a new selection of hardware in the eShop and offering new advertising space, also available in the cafés.
