To celebrate the launch of a series of online tournaments for its Xbox 360 racer, Bizarre Creations has announced the imminent launch of two PGR3 downloadable content packs on Microsoft's Xbox Live Marketplace.

The publisher's launch title for the next-generation console has been well received around the world, and the company is about to enhance the gaming experience with a series of online tournaments and championship race events, further extending the already bustling game community.

The first downloadable content will be free of charge, and will consist of one free new car, and access to certain tournaments (participation in certain tournaments will require an Xbox Live Gold membership) as well as a number of new feature enhancements and undisclosed 'fixes'.

From April 17th, gamers will also be able to download the 'Speedpack' at a cost of 400 Microsoft Points - approximately GBP 3.40 - which contains tournament access, features and fixes, and a choice of twelve new cars for the game. Full details of the new cars have not been disclosed, although Bizarre has confirmed that the pack will include the Ferrari 612 Scagleitti and the Aston Martin V8 Vanquish.

The PGR 3 Global Tournament series will be split into three regions: Europe, Asia and the Americas. The top 64 players from each region's qualifiers will compete in the regional finals, with the top four qualifiers from the regional tournaments going on to compete in the grand final in Sant'Agata, Italy. Grand final qualifiers will also be invited to compete in the country finals for the annual World Cyber Games competition.
