Bill Roper confirmed for Leipzig keynote

Bill Roper is to deliver his second Games Convention Developer Conference (GCDC) keynote in as many years, heading up a line-up that includes Lionhead boss Peter Molyneux.

Roper's speech is to focus on "new technologies in the development process," according to event organiser Leipziger Messe.

Roper formed Flagshipstudios in 2003, after parting company with Blizzard, where he was a director. His career has seen development of some of the biggest games in the business, including Starcraft, Warcraft and Diablo.

Flagshipstudios is currently working on Hellgate London, to be published by Namco.

GCDC is the development precursor to the consumer-led Games Convention, Europe's largest games event, based in Leipzig, Germany. The development track runs from August 21-23, with its larger consumer sibling starting in earnest the following day.
