Online gaming portal now boasts 150 million registered users.

Bigpoint.com, 25 October, 2010 - Online gaming portal Bigpoint.com today announced that it has reached 150 million registered users.  Less than a year after the company reached its 100 millionth registration, which was announced in January 2010, Bigpoint.com has seen its user base rise by a further 50% after introducing a host of games developed both in-house and by independent developers. With the success of hit new games such as Farmerama and ZooMumba, Bigpoint.com is growing by 250,000 registrations every day.

The large uptake of Bigpoint’s browser games backs up recent research from NPD Group, who found that traditional boxed PC and console games are losing market share to digital games and content. According to the market analysts, physical copies of games now account for only 59% of total videogames sales as consumers increasingly opt for digital content.

Heiko Hubertz, CEO of Bigpoint.com, explains: “This is a fantastic achievement for us and by reaching this milestone so quickly proves that we are continually striving to create the best online gaming experience possible. Our growth over the last few months has been incredible, and we expect that as our new games like Ruined Online and Battlestar Galactica become publically available even more gamers will come on board with Bigpoint.”
