Beautiful Grim

Art auction launched to support a breast cancer sufferer from Mythic Entertainment.

SAN FRANCISCO - May 3, 2010

More than 200 artists from the video game industry and beyond have come together to support a 26-year-old woman’s struggle with breast cancer and to raise funds for breast cancer research. This art auction fundraiser – Beautiful Grim – is now live, featuring the work of concept artists, animators, photographers, sculptors, and illustrators. Additional pieces will become available in early May. To visit the auction, go to: http://bit.ly/anVmBb. Beautiful Grim was organized to help Cat, who was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 25 while working at Mythic Entertainment. Her husband, Daarken, a concept artist and illustrator at Mythic Entertainment, and his friend, Leif Jeffers, an animator at DreamWorks, decided to call upon the talents of artists they know to contribute to the fundraising efforts. The auction’s earnings will be used to help alleviate Cat’s serious financial stress from her medical bills. After Cat’s treatments have been paid for, any excess funds will be donated to a breast cancer charity to be named in the coming weeks.

“Our appreciation for the artists’ time and talent knows no bounds,” said Daarken. “Leif and I felt this was a good way to help Cat with her expenses and an opportunity to bring people together to make a positive impact on a cause that has touched many of us.”
