Batman: Arkham Asylum goes straight to number one in UK chart

Eidos scores its biggest selling all-formats game since Who Wants to be a Millionaire

Batman: Arkham Asylum has gone straight to number one in the latest UK all-formats chart, knocking last week's best seller, Wii Sports Resort, into second position.

The game, released at the end of August, marks Eidos' biggest all-formats number one since Who Wants to be a Millionaire in 2000. Released on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, the sales split between the two formats was close - with 45 per cent of units sold on the Sony format, and 55 per cent on the Microsoft console.

Elsewhere in the chart, Codemasters' Ashes Cricket 2009 remained at number three for another week, Wolfenstein dropped two places to number four and Wii Fit dropped one place to number five.

Mario Kart Wii and Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10 both held onto last week's positions of number seven and eight respectively, while another Batman game - Lego Batman: The Videogame - climbed three places to re-enter the top ten at number nine.

Two Call of Duty titles managed to make the top ten, with Call of Duty: World At War falling one place to number six and Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare climbing seven places to number ten.

Further down in the chart, Bethesda's new expansion pack Fallout 3: Game Add-On Pack #2 made its début at number 20.
