Avalanche Studios reveals new technology and seeks new talent

Swedish Avalanche Studios, creators of the highly acclaimed multi-platform title Just Cause, will have a real treat in store for both tech fans and budding developers attending Nordic Game 2007.

For the first time ever at a public event, Avalanche Studios will demonstrate the latest features of the acclaimed Avalanche Engine. During the developer's presentation on Tuesday May 15 at 14.15, Nordic Game attendees will get not only a glimpse into the future of games technology, but a peek behind the scenes at the Stockholm studio.

Co-founder & Technical Director Linus Blomberg and Art Director Stefan Ljungqvist will discuss in-depth Avalanche Studios' unique approach to the challenges of cross-platform, cross-genre and cross-IP games production. As the pressure to expand the number of production staff continues to grow, contradicting the desire to maintain manageable team sizes, developers need to learn how to be more effective than ever. Linus and Stefan will show how R&D and prototyping in the development process at Avalanche Studios addresses these issues.

"In just four years we've expanded from a six-man studio to a developer with over one hundred employees and moved from being a one project-at-a-time games creator to a multi-franchise studio. Growing isn't cool in itself but sometimes it's a necessary evil considering the complexity of today's projects. Improving efficiency at Avalanche Studios has been key in avoiding the trap of becoming a slow-moving beast - our experiences with managing growth are something we're very happy to share with our industry colleagues at Nordic Game.", comments Christofer Sundberg, Co-founder & Creative Director of Avalanche Studios.

Underscoring the studio's rapid and continuing expansion, Avalanche will also be interviewing promising new talent on-site at the developer's Career Expo booth; there representatives from Avalanche's management, technical and art departments will be sharing their own perspectives on the many exciting career opportunities available at the studio. To set up the interview that could change your life, please call Linda Bäcklund at +46 (0)8 442 76 70 or contact Avalanche Studios' recruitment hotline at jobs@avalanchestudios.se.

Nordic Game Program is funded by the Nordic Council of Ministers and administered by Nordic Game Resources AB, a Swedish limited company.
