IGDA and Women in Games International co-hosting event at this month's VGXPO.

Thursday, November 6, 2008---Austin, TX--- IGDA Women in Games today announces their VIP mixer and featured panel session at America’s Video Game Expo (VGXPO), November 21-23. Committed to supporting women in games, IGDA Women in Games is a sub-organization of the International Game Developers Association.

IGDA Women in Games and Women in Games International are co-hosting a special VIP industry mixer at VGXPO in Philadelphia on Saturday, November 22. Entitled “Attack of the 5 Foot Women,” the game industry VIP mixer will be the entertaining wrap-up to a full day of executive panels and workshops at the East Coast Games Summit, the industry-focused program for VGXPO.

Free-flowing food, drink and door prizes will be offered to select East Coast Games Summit attendees, speakers, sponsors and VIP’s at the swanky Solefood Lounge, located at Loew’s, 1200 Market Street. Scheduled from 5 pm to 8, the mixer is free to attend and game industry not attending VGXPO are also welcome, with advance RSVP. The “Attack of the 5 Foot Women” mixer kicks off with the WIGI Celebrity Ebay Auction, a collection of over a hundred video games and game-related merchandise items -- much of it signed by industry leaders -- being auctioned to raise funds for Women in Games International. On Sunday, November 23, IGDA Women in Games is presenting a featured panel at the East Coast Games Summit. Fiona Cherbak, Chairperson of IGDA Women in Games, will moderate the panel billed as “What’s Next?: Women in Games.” Comprised of esteemed industry experts, this session will take a close look at what women have accomplished in games and what happens next for female professionals and players alike. The panelist line-up includes Gano Haine, Principal, The ONAG Group; Amber Dalton, PMS Clan Leader; Kim Callery, Game Design Program Chair, IADT-Detroit; and Jill Duffy, Editor-in-Chief, GameCareerGuide.com and Senior Contributing Editor, Game Developer. Some of the feature presentations lined up for VGXPO Game Summit include keynotes from recognized game industry representatives; an executive workshop on Agile project management in game development presented by GameRecruiter; a pitch session for aspiring game developers to present their original game ideas to game development experts, education and diversity panels, and a ‘state of the games industry’ roundtable with industry insiders.
