Arvato Mobile and O2 Germany launch new gaming platform

O2 Active portal gains uniquely interactive gaming service

O2, the UK's largest mobile phone operator, is continuing to expand its services in Germany - partnering with Arvato Mobile for the creation of a unique community-based mobile gaming platform for the O2 Active service.

Launched on the German O2 Active portal earlier this week, the new gaming platform is focused on multiplayer gaming, adaptable content promotion, and community events to promote customer loyalty and more widespread user interaction.

Customers can view purchasing history and manage downloads, interacting with other gamers through discussion forums, user voting, competitions and ranking lists, regular contests and competitive tournaments, as well as a dedicated gaming magazine.

As part of the new service, various content promotional activities are planned, and users can now download additional game levels, as well as obtaining free game demos with interactive billing to allow full version purchase during gameplay. The company also plans to implement further in-game billing methods during the coming months.

Arne Wolter, president of Arvato Mobile commented: "Our goal is to make the new O2 games platform a reference solution in the rapidly expanding mobile gaming market. We also aim to achieve strong customer loyalty through the intelligent community features offered by our platform such as multiplayer gaming. This is also a key driver of sales growth."

O2 continues to develop its customer base in Germany, aided by a strong brand presence and a roaming agreement with T-Mobile. The company currently has approximately 9 million customers in Germany, gaining over 600,000 since July of this year.

Arvato Mobile enables network operators, internet portals and media companies to offer innovative mobile content, utilising its B2B expertise to provide solutions for messaging services, mobile direct marketing, voting services and technical solutions for WAP and Web representation. As a white label content provider, Arvato is also able to provide billing support and royalty management services.
