AMD ships 50 million Wii graphics chips

Hollywood chip is AMD's most successful console graphics processor

AMD has shipped its 50 millionth ATI graphics processor for the Wii.

Codenamed Hollywood, the technology is AMD's most successful console chip to date in terms of units sales.

"AMD's graphics technology expertise as displayed in the ATI Hollywood chip is a great part of the momentum of Wii," offered Genyo Takeda, general manager of integrated research and development at Nintendo.

"Our combined efforts help deliver entertaining experiences to create many smiling faces in living rooms around the world."
