AMD sale gets approval of ATI shareholders

ATI has announced that its shareholders have voted "overwhelmingly" to approve the purchase of fellow chip-maker AMD.

ATI has announced that its shareholders have voted "overwhelmingly" to approve the purchase of fellow chip-maker AMD.

The deal, which was first announced last July, is set to complete next week after 99 per cent of shareholders voted in favour of it going ahead.

From then on, ATI will continue to make high-end graphics cards, and will also focus on producing more integrated graphics solutions.

The deal is worth an estimated USD 5.4 billion (4.3 billion Euros) in cash and shares.
