amBX to sponsor Dare to be Digital

Development kits and technical support will be provided to entrants in the student competition

Phillips has signed up to an amBX sponsorship deal of the student games development competition Dare to be Digital.

The electronics manufacturer will provide Dare to be Digital with development kits and technical support for its amBX products – peripherals designed to improve the PC gaming experience by providing effects such as back lighting, rumble and air flow.

"amBX-enabling Dare to be Digital is part of our dedicated grass roots campaign to nurture and support young computer game development talent," commented Jo Cooke, chief marketing officer of amBX.

"The UK is a world leader in the game development industry and amBX will be supporting our future captains of industry every step of the way. We’re really looking forward to seeing the many different innovative amBX effects that our young game developers are going to create in their games."

Dare to be Digital is an annual competition, held by Abertay University in Dundee, in which students are invited to compete with each other to develop a game within a ten week period.

The finished games are then showcased at Dare Protoplay, a public event for emerging artists and programmers, where they will be judged by the public and a panel of games industry experts.
