3GSM: I-play wins best mobile game award

The Fast and the Furious sequel picks up honours

I-play has been honoured at the 12th Annual GSM Association Global Mobile Awards for its hit title The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo.

The racing title picked up the award for Best Made for Mobile Game in the Mobile Innovation category.

"This stood out for its universal attraction, intuitive design and sheer playability," said the judging panel.

The Fast and the Furious has been a huge franchise for I-play, reaching six million downloads, while the award-winning sequel registered one million downloads in under six months.

David Gosen, CEO of I-play, recently told MobileIndustry.biz that The Fast and the Furious would be the first title benefit from the company's new bundle initiative - where games, ringtones, movie footage and wallpapers will be sold as a complete package to consumers.

Other winners of the 2007 awards included Vodafone, which scooped Best Made for Mobile Music Service, 3UK for the Best Messaging Service and Sony Ericsson's K800 Cyber-Shot phone which was awarded the Best 3GSM Mobile Handset or Device.
