3DS dominating Japanese top ten as release schedule picks up

Wipeout Vita doesn't chart as system sees no top twenty places

The 3DS continues to dominate both hardware and software charts in Japan as the country's release schedule starts to pick up after the holiday season.

Four of the top five games are 3DS SKUs, with Mario Kart 7 still heading up the table. The first non-3DS title in the chart is Onechanbara Z Kagura on Xbox 360 in fifth.

Whilst the PlayStation Vita had one major new release in the form of Wipeout, it failed to chart in the top twenty. In terms of hardware sales, the platform still sits in fourth, behind 3DS, PS3 and PSP.

Hardware sales are still shrinking after a series of holidays associated with gift giving in Japan, so numbers were down across the board.
