West Midlands-based developer joins TIGA.

TIGA, the trade association representing the UK games industry, today announced 3dnative as its newest member.

3dnative is a digital consultancy and developer located in the West Midlands. The company develops serious and entertainment games for PC, iPad, iPhone and iTouch devices.

Recent clients and projects include Kliper 2.0, a serious games concept for Advantage West Midlands. Working in partnerships with Professor Robert J. Stone of the University of Birmingham, Kliper 2.0 was developed to teach primary school children about Newton’s laws of motion. 3dnative is also working with the Ministry of Defense, developing serious games for specialist bomb disposal units in the British Armed Forces, as well as submarine safety and spatial awareness training for the Royal Navy.

The company also develops games for entertainment, and has recently launched a subdivision called

Red i Games, focusing on developing mobile and social media games.

Stephen Hands, director, 3dnative explains the company’s focus:

“At 3dnative our focus is to use the incredible technology that exists in the interactive entertainment industry to create practical applications which solve real world problems in a cost effective way. We passionately believe that ‘serious games’ are not a separate entity, and should utilise the unparalleled technology that exists in the entertainment sector. That said, serious games must be approached in a very different way, with an absolute focus on their functional use as a training and educational tool.

“3dnative has joined TIGA to connect with the wider UK games community and access the expertise and connections that TIGA offers for smaller developers.”

Dr. Richard Wilson, TIGA CEO welcomed the company to TIGA: “Stephen and the team at 3dnative are fantastic ambassadors for games industry and how games technology and design can be harnessed as a positive and effective tool to train, educate and enlighten.”
