3D Realms signs Meqon for Duke Nukem Forever physics

Texas-based developer 3D Realms has announced that it has selected Swedish firm Meqon to supply a physics solution for the long-awaited next instalment in the Duke Nukem franchise, Duke Nukem Forever.

"We evaluated several physics SDK's," according to 3D Realms CEO George Broussard, "and Meqon was really fast, had the cleanest interface and integrated into our game very quickly."

The Meqon technology will be used to power character and vehicle physics as well as rigid body physics - although there's still no indication of when the game itself might appear, or indeed of how long 3D Realms has been working with Meqon, which was founded in 2002.

"With its advanced feature set, we feel confident that Meqon's next generation physics engine can help us create the next generation of action games," Broussard concluded.
