Journey Collector's Edition confirmed
First retail release for Thatgamecompany
Thatgamecompany has confirmed that a Journey Collector's Edition is coming. This will seemingly combine the three Thatgamecompany releases for PSN on one Blu-ray disc.
"Yes, the Journey Collector's Edition is a thing, and it includes flOw and Flower, but we can't say anything more," said the developer on Twitter.
Superannuation recently noticed a listing for a "Journey Compilation" on GameFly. This was followed by a similar posting on Play-Asia.
Journey became the fastest selling title ever on PSN after its release and is now the best selling title on PSN ever. Right now, Jenova Chen's Thatgamecompany is negotiating with different publishers to publish their next title now that the three game contract with Sony is concluded.
Holy cats. I just won a bet I made over a year ago. Thanks, someone out there who listens to what people actually want! I predicted (after bugging a few tgc people at a press event) that a retail disc version of Journey with all their other games plus a soundtrack and/or making of featurette would be a better idea than just getting the game on PSN as a download only. Hopefully the price point will be right so it's a no-brainer purchase.
Now, SCEA needs to step this up to include disc releases of other PSN-only titles. I'd bet Papo & Yo plus a few other games would be killer and hell, I'd pay for some third-party releases as well if they made it to disc, as would a lot of other people who were shut out because they don't use PSN.
