Zynga acquires Wonderland Software team

Social business grabs talent and select IP from Guildford developer

Social games firm Zygna continues its talent acquisition by swooping for the staff and select IP of Guildford's Wonderland Software.

The business will be renamed Zynga Mobile UK, but the company's popular GodFinger game - published by ngmoco - is not part of the deal.

"Wonderland is composed of an amazingly talented, creative team, known for developing deeply engaging and innovative games," said David Ko, SVP of mobile at Zynga.

"This is a team that has developed novel game technology to tell engrossing stories and I'm incredibly excited to have Wonderland join Zynga as we build a presence in the UK."

Wonderland was established in 2009 by ex-Lionhead developers Matthew Wiggins, Mark Rose and Al Harding.

"Wonderland Software has always been dedicated to pursuing big and creative ideas and turning them into games that players love," said Wiggins, who now becomes general manager of the new outfit.

"We are thrilled to continue our vision as part of the Zynga family and to reach millions of mobile players across a spectrum of devices."
