Steam UI update slated for April 26

Update follows 2 month beta; 25,000 users contributed feedback

Steam is to launch its new Steam Client UI update on April 26, following a two month beta phase in which over 25,000 users contributed feedback.

In a statement posted to the Steam site, the company confirmed the official launch date and thanked users for contributing feedback on the twenty plus updates that were released during the beta.

"We'd like to extend our thanks to all of you who've taken part in improving Steam by participating in the 2010 Steam UI Update beta. You've put the beta through its paces and provided great ideas and feedback," it said.

"The beta has been a huge success. The number of you who participated exceeded all our expectations, and so far you've created 25 thousand posts to the beta user forums. As a result of your participation, the Steam team has had the feedback required to make the new Steam client more reliable and useful than ever.

The update will enable a range of new features, including new customisation tools for the Library, the ability to see which games friends have purchased and a news aggregation function.
