Nintendo UK has become an official partner of this year's Edinburgh Interactive festival, part of the wider Edinburgh Festival cultural event.
Nintendo will support the event with playable demonstrations of Super Mario Galaxy 2, Metroid: Other M and Dragon Quest IX. The company supported previous year's events with a Wii Sports Resort gaming area and live cooking demos using Cooking Guide on the DS.
The Edinburgh Interactive festival (EIF) is due to feature a blend of industry and consumer events, including conferences, screenings and consumer demos. The festival is due to take place on August 25 and 26 at arthouse cinema The Filmhouse.
This year also marks a new event partnership between EIF and the Media Guardian Edinburgh International Television Festival (MGETIF). On August 26 the two will host the first ever creative industries event for television and games, in an attempt to bring together decision makers from both mediums.
Both organisations will also present keynote addresses from as yet unnamed industry experts. A "creative masterclass" is also planned featuring game developers and television creatives.
"The year-on-year growth of Edinburgh Interactive has only been realised by the continued support of pioneers like Nintendo, who recognise the importance of a cultural event that brings the wider interactive industry together with consumers and media," said EIF chairman Chris Deering.
The 2010 EIF programme is still open for screening submissions from developers, publishers and game creators, with further information available at the official website.
