Mark Frohnmayer to Become Head Mechanic at the Garage

Jeff Tunnell refocuses on making games while Frohnmayer runs the shop at GarageGames

June 5, 2005-Eugene, OR-GarageGames® today announced that Mark Frohnmayer, one its original founders and the lead programmer of Tribes, Tribes 2, and Marble Blast, has assumed the role of President of GarageGames. He succeeded Jeff Tunnell, GarageGames' original President, who stepped aside to focus on game development after six successful years at the helm of the company.

"GarageGames now has three powerful engines, and we're constantly improving our development toolset," said Frohnmayer. "We've got several exciting projects on the horizon including a killer casual game being developed in partnership with another company and a downloadable title for the upcoming Xbox 360. Jeff has done a fantastic job getting us through the startup phase, and I plan on continuing to fulfill the vision we all started."

"After some exciting years running GarageGames, the time has come for me to step back and let a smarter, younger guy take over the reins," said Tunnell, continuing "the future has never looked better for GarageGames. Instead of making all the day-to-day decisions, I'll finally have a chance to work on more creative projects that allow me to be directly involved in the design and development process."

Tunnell, a gaming industry veteran, for the first time, plans on taking time off over the summer. He'll return for IndieGamesCon 05, and get back to doing what he does best...making innovative fun games.
