Macrovision set to protect Mastertronic's budget ranges

Macrovision has signed a deal with Mastertronic to supply content protection for all of the UK budget publishers' titles.

The agreement covers three retail brands: Sold Out, PC Gamer Presents and Mastertronic Added Dimension (M.A.D). Macrovision previously only provided protection for the Sold Out range.

Macrovision sales director Martin Brooker described the deal as "a valued endorsement of our SafeDisc Advanced solution by the leading player in the European value publishing market."

"This exemplifies the need for content protection at all levels of retail distribution," he added.

Andy Payne, MD of Mastertronic, stated that the company's commitment to the industry "requires us to source content protection that is transparent to the consumer, yet highly effective at preventing illegal copying. Only Macrovision offers such tight security and protection whilst ensuring complete compatibility across all hardware configurations."

Mastertronic are currently preparing XIII, Richard Burns Rally and Sonic Adventure DX for release on the M.A.D label this April.
