Leipziger Messe opens Singapore office

The organisers of Games Convention Asia have opened a Singapore office to assist with event planning in the region

Leipziger Messe has opened a representative office in Singapore to develop and implement fair and event concepts for the international market.

The first project to be handled by the Singapore staff will be the staging of the second Games Convention Asia which will take place on September 18-20. Over 70,000 visitors attended the premiere GC Asia in 2007 and the organisers expect approximately 100 exhibitors this year.

"Leipziger Messe and the City of Leipzig are making a clear indication of their commitment in Asia," said Leipzig's mayor and chairman of the supervisory board of Leipziger Messe, Burkhard Jung.

"The newly-opened representation in Singapore will help to disseminate the good reputation of the economic region and cultural & trade fair city of Leipzig in southeast Asia."

"Singapore is the gateway to the booming Asia-Pacific market and opens up fascinating new opportunities for the worldwide games industry," says Wolfgang Marzin, CEO of Leipziger Messe GmbH.

"The GC Asia is the sole event in this region to focus on digital entertainment, computer games, entertainment, learning software and hardware.

"The goal of the organiser Leipziger Messe International is to establish the GCA as the most significant meeting place for the industry in the Asia-Pacific region and to open up the path to new markets for international companies and developers."
