2008 CGS World Championship

Schedule for North American season and world final laid bare.

LOS ANGELES – May 20, 2008 – Championship Gaming SeriesTM (CGS), the only worldwide professional gaming league, today announced its schedule of events for the 2008 North America Season and World Final, beginning Monday, June 2 and running through the 2008 CGS World Championship on Monday, July 28.

During the course of those action-packed two months, gamers from eight teams across the globe will convene in Los Angeles to battle over US$1,000,000 in prize money, and the winning team will receive a payout of US$500,000. Players will live in CGS-supplied apartments in Los Angeles and practice with their team players every day in preparation for the World Final, which begin with quarterfinal matches on Monday, July 14 and Wednesday, July 16.

The North America Season and World Championship will be broadcast live in front of a television audience, in HDTV, on DIRECTV. Additional events throughout the summer will be covered live on thecgs.com, including the kick-off for the 2008 CGS North America Season, which will broadcast live daily June 2 – June 13 beginning at 6 p.m. PDT / 9 p.m. EDT on theCGS.com from the campus of Electronic Arts Los Angeles.

Outside of North America, televised coverage of the World Championship will air in the UK on BSkyB , in Asia on STAR and ESPN-STAR and in Australia on STAR. In September, Eurosport 2 will broadcast the 2008 World Championship to more than 41 nations in continental Europe.
