Cotopia multiplayer service expands

Ad-supported game line-up growing

Multiplayer game service Cotopia is set to expand its range of ad-supported board and tabletop games to include Checkers (Drafts), Poker and Go in the near future.

The Czech Republic-based company's current line-up consists of Chess, Reversi (Othello), Tic-Tac-Toe and Connect 4.

Each is supported by chat and messaging options, high-score tables and the ability for players to represent themselves with an avatar, and each offers offline computer-controlled adversaries as well as human opposition.

Cotopia, which can be accessed by visiting http://cotopia.mobi on supported handsets, claims that more than 50,000 people engaged in approximately 600,000 game sessions on the old version of the service.

It has a bit of a way to go to repeat those figures, however, with current statistics published on the Cotopia website claiming 200 player registrations and just under 650 games played.
